Animation Foundation: when to enrol?
Would you like to study at a major animation school but you would like to complete a foundation year first? The Animation Foundation is an excellent training that enables you to be best prepared for the competitive exams for the most prestigious and selective art schools.
Enrolment procedures can vary from one institution to the next, and Animation Foundations do not all share the same admissions criteria.
The most important thing is, of course, not to miss out by knowing exactly when to register to enrol for the Animation Foundation of your choice. So when should you enrol for the Animation Foundation? Catherine Totems, head of the animation foundation and animation degree course at Atelier de Sèvres, tells us more.
Enroling on the Animation Foundation at Atelier de Sèvres
Atelier de Sèvres is a private higher education institution accessible outside Parcoursup, which means that you do not need to go through an intermediary to enrol on the Animation Foundation. Just ask for an appointment with the Admissions Department at Atelier de Sèvres to obtain an interview date.
These admission interviews are not subject to fixed dates. They usually start in October, and enrollment for Atelier de Sèvres remains open for as long as places are still available.
It is not unusual for us to decide to open a second phase of interviews in September for the current year, in the case of withdrawals, for example. So stay tuned!
"Enrol as soon as you are ready, with a portfolio of 10 to 20 boards of your work in observational drawing, sketches, photos, imaginative drawing, illustration, etc. Do so by making an appointment as early as October until the end of May." —Catherine Totems
If your admissions interview is successful, you will need to complete our Animation enrolment form. Once we have received this, you have two to three weeks to confirm that you would like to enrol at Atelier de Sèvres, and validate your registration for the Animation Foundation.
We advise you to make an appointment for your interview at Atelier de Sèvres as soon as possible. This will increase your chances being accepted onto the Animation Foundation.
Admissions conditions for the Animation Foundation
All students in the last year of high school onwards, studying any subjects, can enrol on the Animation Foundation. You just have to be between 17 and 24 years old.
The level of study required to join Atelier de Sèvres is a high school diploma or equivalent.
Once you have completed the application procedures detailed above, you will be invited to Atelier de Sèvres for an individual admissions interview.
During this interview, you will present your portfolio. Over the course of around thirty minutes, you will have the opportunity to discuss informally with the Animation Foundation teaching team.
We do not require an advanced level of drawing, but rather seek a certain level of motivation and open-mindedness. The aim of the training is to teach students artistic skills in order for them to successfully pass the competitive entrance exams for the major animation schools.
At Atelier de Sèvres, we guarantee you a fulfilling working environment in which you will build solid theoretical and practical knowledge in different Animation disciplines.
Teaching is accompanied by intensive preparation for the entrance exams for the largest animation schools, in France and abroad, during mock (written and oral) exams.
During the Animation Foundation year at Atelier de Sèvres, you will also have the opportunity to be supported by a teacher in the creation of your portfolio, which you will present to the schools to which you apply.
If you are interested in an Animation Foundation in order to go on to join the most selective schools, come and visit our open days at Atelier de Sèvres or contact our teaching team for more information.
